Transitional Ages

How do I know if my child is ready for the next level?

One of the many strengths of the Kindermusik philosophy is its genuine respect for each child's individual rate of development. Class activities and home materials are designed to honour, support and celebrate the uniqueness of each child. Since no two children develop in exactly the same way, classes have overlapping age ranges to help parents accommodate their child's own needs

While the child should be at least the minimum age to enroll in any given class, there are two critical “transitional stages” when parents have an important decision to make about which class is most appropriate and beneficial for their child: at 14-18 months and at 3-3.5 years.

When choosing a class for your child, ask yourself some important questions...

  • Which of these levels will my child thrive in, rather than just being able to get along in?
  • Am I considering my child's pleasure and emotional development as much as their cognitive development?
  • Is my child eager for added independence and challenges, or are they most delighted by sharing special time with me to help guide and support them?

If your child is near a transitional stage, the following guidelines may help your decision.

Moving from Village(2-18 mon.) to Our Time(18 mon.-3 yrs)

Moving from Our Time(18 mon.-3 yrs) to Imagine That!(3-4 yrs)
